Vicar's letter introducing Autumn events 2017:

At Blean church we have finalised our schedule of special events for the coming Autumn and Winter (including Christmas), which includes - on 26th September - a special lecture in church by a distinguished medical practitioner who is an expert on the care of limbs and joints. In October there will be an in-depth study, across three weekday evenings, of Mark’s Gospel based on the most up to date research and discoveries. Or just come along and experience Sunday morning worship and local church life at its best! As the Parish Church of Blean and Tyler Hill we take our role as the historic focus of Christian life in the locality seriously, with family Christenings, Marriages and Funerals regularly taking place, along with home visits to people who are housebound.

The church’s work with children and young people is ongoing through regular assembles at Blean Primary School, educational visits of children to the church building and the weekly Sunday School. Meanwhile we maintain our close links to the Christian ministry amongst students which is carried out through the University Chaplaincy.

Have you considered joining the ‘Friends of Blean Church’ who host coffee mornings at Blean Village Hall on Wednesdays in term time (all welcome)? That is just one of many ways to get involved. For full details of these and all other events see our all-new website

Forty people enjoyed an afternoon tea on Saturday 22 July with sandwiches, scones/strawberry jam/cream and strawberries and cream - not a calorie in sight!!??  The rain held off till the very end of the event though it was a trifle windy with some people opting to stay indoors.  The afternoon raised just over £300 for church funds.

Easter Sunday saw us lighting the New Fire in the Churchyard. we were pleased to see a large congregation including several families at the main service which followed.
